Do yo have money, time and patience? Go for it!!!!

I got my bullet electra 4s CI engine (left side brake) on may 2008 from Southern Motors Chennai. Done 10000+ km till now and now it is under Kerala registration since I moved. I have used Yezdi and Bullet standard before. I was totally happy with the bull after purchase, but it started giving me problems:

  1. The bike was not starting. I took it to a authorized service centre at Trivandrum. The mechanics after a big investigation found that the TCI box got busted. They also said that presently its a duplicate one in my bull and the original thing is different. I said I have given my bike to only auth service stations, here and once in southern motors chennai from where I bought this. This was within a year of purchase and they said warranty do not cover this thing. I said in that case I have to complain to the company and need to know how parts are changed in auth service centres. After that they changed mind and replaced it free of cost.

  2. The self start stopped working. Its now under investigation by auth service station mechs at trivandrum. I need to take the bull again there for further checking. They say there is a chance that the starter motor have busted since they tested with another switch module etc. I am not sure how much the started motor will cost but they say around 4k+.

  3. They say the battery is weak now and they say that type battery is not coming now even if I am looking for a replacement. :( I think its a 14 A battery. I got similar info from a local battery shop and they said they dont have it. What should I do at this point after spending around 85K for a two wheeler and after just two years?

  4. The electricals have improved a lot when compared to older models like STD that I owned, but frankly speaking not up to the mark or worth the money that we are paying.

The thing I don’t understand, Even though all these happened I still love my bull. :)

Riding comfort is excellent. I made some trips in this and never felt much tired. The bike is stable but they have made the rear wheel width lesser, may be to improve mileage but there is more chance to skid in wet/sandy roads as opposed to wider ones that used to come in older bulls. The seats are comfortable, both for pillion and rider. The rear shock absorbers are gas filled and do their job nicely. I get a mileage of around 30~35 depending on riding conditions. I will update all after further investigations by the mechs regarding the self start.... Thanks for your time :-)
