Ive been residing in Malleswaram for over ten years now and Bun World has been there ever since. Just walking through the area, you get the smell of delicious bread baking inside and are tempted to head inside.
Particularly crowded during afternoons and early evenings, thanks to the students of nearby colleges who frequent this outlet, it makes for a pleasant place to have a bite of the standard bakery products. Established during the times when coffee shops were not yet popular, this eatery has managed to survive their onset and still has its share of regular customers.
In terms of what it has to offer, it has cakes, pastries, sandwiches, pizzas, burgers, chips, soft drinks and the likes. My pick would be the Pizza which is reminiscent of the days when our moms would make pizza at home. A generous helping of cheese, with a choice of toppings of capsicums, tomatoes, onions, mushroom or baby corn makes this pizza what it is and has about 4 slices, which serves 1 or 2 at the most.
I only wish their seating arrangements were better as currently they just have benches outside which can seat a maximum of 8-10 people at one time. And often, you end up sharing your benches with other customers which is not a great experience.
So, if your agenda is to chill over a sandwich and indulge in some chit-chatter, this is definitely not the right place. But to give the makers some credit, their target audience is the students on a budget and in that sense, they’ve got their strategy right. Not just students, even parents with kids are frequently seen here in the evenings.
It infuses some old-world charm since it’s been around for the longest time and has become a landmark of sorts for Malleshwaram residents. Give it a shot if you’re in the area, but don’t set your expectations too high. :)
