Brunty aur Bitterly

I was not in a mood to go for a movie when my cousins hatched up a plan to watch Bunty aur Babli. Now I wish I had not changed my plan. The movie is absolutely pathetic. I am also amazed that the movie has been declared a super hit. It is the publicity that has been given to the movie that did the trick.

The movie begins with Abhishek & Rani wanting to leave their home town to build their respective careers. When their career fail even before it begins, they team up & decide to follow & live by their own rules. They begin duping people to earn money for a living. This was what made me go for the movie. I guessed the movie to be something like MTV Bakra, wherein the actors go about fooling people. Sadly, in the movie they do not show any of the instances wherein they go about fooling people except 2 instances which can be termed good. One - where they take revenge from the person who had duped Abhishek & the second - when they dupe a shopkeeper in a mall into selling all his goods to them. The part where they are shown selling the Taj Mahal is also crap. Abhishek is shown trying to finalize a deal for the Taj Mahal. How can a person sell a monument of great prestige so easily ? Such an offer will be greeted with violent protest from the society at large if it were to be carried out in real life. Rather, they have shown students pleading with the authorities to prevent the Taj Mahal from being sold.

The movie has its ups & downs. Frankly speaking (or writing), I did not understand the movie 100%. I wonder how the film industry manage to make such horrible movies. I did not even understand the climax. As in all Bollywood movies, the pair realises their mistakes & vows never to take up crime anymore. Seeing them turn to leading a good life, Amitabh (he plays a cop on a wild goose chase after the duo), who manages to nab them, gets emotional & releases them. 3 years later he spring back, asking the lead pair where they have hidden the loot. THE END. The movie ends with Abhishek & Rani and other people all shown in black suits & glares. For a moment I thought they had joined the FBI or something. But no, the movie closes with the line....and the CONNED happily ever after. If you are getting bored at home and don’t mind watching a movie just for the sake of watching one & you enjoy some non-sense in movies, then in that case you may go and watch it.
