Bunty Aur Babli (No Oye Bubbly here), brings together the ever improving Abhishek Bachchan and close to best Rani Mukherjee together once again after Yuva, Shaad Ali directs the movie after Saathiyaan and Aditya Chopra produces for Yashraj Films after a VeerDHumtOOmZaara 2004, so we expect something watchable, Dont we do that with all the movies, :-)
Well coming on to Music of the film, I just got hold of the CD and rambled all through the Cover to see whats it about and thought lets see how it is spending Rs. 150 on this Yashraj Music CD instead on a Cassette i.e. for Rs. 55 also on Yashraj Music ofcourse. So here we go.
Music By:: Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy (Back after Lakshya)
Lyrics By:: Gulzaar Sahab (Back after Raincoat)
He is the reason perhaps I went for the music, I mean too much of Javed Akhtar yaar!! (Its not that I dont like him)
~~~So I played randomly whichever my flickering mind made me to play~~~
1) Bunty aur Bably - Title Track::
(Sukhvinder Singh, Jaspinder Narula, Shankar Mahadevan)
This is funny from the outset, just give the ear to the start absolute wacky with Toad Croaking and unconventional instruments played and then the music follows, SEL have the ability to bring out a different song into there every album, This actually a song describing the heriocs of the protagonists but sounds funny and worth listening, I think this will be sounded every time Bunty and Bably do some greats on screen, Lyrics are good and they justify the kind of song this is i.e. they have to show the heriocs of both of them, Song belongs to Sukhvinder and Jaspinder Narula and Shankar lay a good support, SEL do use the chorus well.
3.8/5
2) Dhadak Dhadak::
(Udit Narayan, Sunidhi Chouhan and Nihira Joshi)
You must have seen this on TV, the promos show both leads actually taking a sort of leap to the big town to fulfill there notorious ambitions, You know for Gulzaar this is the 3rd song shot on a Train after Dhanno ki Aankhon mein, Chaiyya Chaiyya and now this, Use of Dholak and normal jhanjar are very prominent and I really like that because I am fed of heavy rhythms, Udit sings well but I feel Nihira though given less scope excels more than Sunidhi, Do look for the start of the song which start with AB Srs voice which is really interesting say which goes like this
Is world mein Do tarah ke log hote hai, Ek to woh jo saari zindagi ek hi kaam kartein hai aur ek woh jo Ek Zindagi mein saare kaam kar lete hai
On the whole a fast song which will set the pace of the movie and will be good to watch as seen in the promos, It has a simple small town feel to it and I really like it & Lyrics do justify it well. 4.5/5
3) Kajra Re Kajra Re::
(Alisha Chinai, Shankar Mahadevan and Javed Ali)
I went for this because of Alisha Chinai because I hadnt heard her that much in recent times, Youll be surprised with this which actually a Kotha/Nautanki song with excellent Use of Dholak and Ghungroo, I was amazed by choice of Alisha, I thought she was overstylish for this song, Didnt like it much, I think this is a situational on screen and I feel this will be like Going to pee song, but percussionist must be greeted for a good effort in background. Shankar & new voice Javed dont get much to sing though SEL did try to be lil different with the treatment of the song.2/5
4) Nach Baliye::
(Shankar Mahadevan, Somya Raoh, Loy Mendosa)
Looks like small town shrewd zombies hit it out on dance floor with this song, this is a disco song and will work a lil bit in that ambience and yeah this another HINPUN song combining both Hindi & Punjabi, I feel the new Somya has done well and can excel in future and Shankar and Loy Mendosa lend an able support, Its a listen leap & forget song, Though few technos here and there are good, not much of lyrics to write home about. 3/5
5) BnB::
(Featuring Blaaze, Shankar Mahadevan, Loy Mendosa)
A unique RAP number and singer Blaaze really blazes through this and I really enjoyed sticking my ear to this , I feel this will be the hifi promotional track that they will use for promoting the movie on TV, the music is head shaking and one can enjoy, I think it wont hurt to even listen it again, Whatever I grasped from fast rap I think he is describing the protagonist, dont be surprised if this comes as a BG score as well in the movie, Few pick up of music is from the title track.4/5
6) Chupke Chupke::
(Sonu Nigam, Mahalaxmi Iyer)
Ofcourse by the first chord this is a love song and I think it is hummable, this is not as fast other songs but is sung well by both Sonu and Mahalaxmi , I think this a tortoise which will win slowly by growing on you, Lyrics are good and SEL contemporary stlye of using lot of instruments and gelling them well is quite evident in this, Chorus are used effectively, Overall a melodious one to hear, once you see it I think it will grow.4/5
Well thats the music for you, the movie hits the theatres this may and I think I am waiting for it, I want to see another hit from Rani and ofcourse Abhishek. :-)
Cticizes Quote::Much better then Kaal, fast and situational numbers but enjoyable, buy it because of Gulzar or SEL, I think its worth listening and enjoying, doesnt burden you or scratch your head with heavy music.
~~~Enjoy Summer guys Eat, Drink, Listen music and Watch movies~~~
