It should always be in your Magazine Shelf

Business India is a fortnightly business magazine. Unlike Business Today, which belongs to the India Today Group, Business India is an exclusive magazine. As stated in the masthead, it is ’’THE MAGAZINE OF THE CORPORATE WORLD.’’ Its cover design tries to imitate that of THe Economist of London. But, I fin d the covedr design to be a bit clumsy. To the right of the masthead are printed in reverse colour ’’POWER SECTOR REFORMS, NABARD’S GAME PLAN, THE NEW USHA MARTIN and GOLF AND CRM. On the cover are prominently superimposed the following: ’’Can MNCs build BRANDS ? Some find it better to buy them.’’ The Publisher Ashok H. Advani writes in the present issue of the magazine for June 9- 2 2003, ’’The debate on whether it is better to build or buy has bee part of every discussion on corporate growth.’’ He further writes, ’’ What is new today is that several fast-growing brands launched by Indian entrepreneurs are up for sale.’’

Business India is edited, produced and marketed by an efficient Team. Parthasarathi Swami is the Managing Editor, Nazneen Karmali, the Consulting Editor and A. B. Ravi, the Executive Editor. There are six Deputy Editors and five Assistant Editors. There is a Bureau Chief in Kolkata. There are five Special Correspondents and four Principal Correspondents. There is a Senior Correspondent, a Photo Editor and Photographers. The Design Studio and Graphics Unit serve the Art Director.

In this issue, there are Corporate Reports on NABARD, USHA MARTIN, Government & Politics, Economy, Banking, Finance, Finance, Feature, MTS, IFF, Telecom, Health, Tourism, States, Interview, Editorials, Follow-up, Business Notes, COVER FEATURE on ’ Can MNCs build Brands ?’ and SPECIAL REPORT on Power to the People. There is a two-page Compilation of positions advertised between May 21 to June 2, 2003. The entire 138-page issue, and the two Cover Pages are printed in high quality Art paper. The result is a thoroughly readable business magazine. Its annual subscription rates are Rs.245 for India, and for students, it is Rs.200. The overseas subscriptions are as follows: By airmail to Pakistan, it is Rs.2, 200 or US$ 55. To all other countries, it is Rs.3, 40 or Us$ 85. A single copy costs Rs.15. Before I close this Review, I should say that it should always be in your Magazine Shelf.
