A GOOD n LIGHT AUTO MAGAZINE

Though the articles and photographs are superb, but still BSMotoring isn’t a mainstream automobile mag(not like Autocar India or Auto India). But you get all the necessary info on the latest cars and bikes, non-motoring stuffs like the travel guides and the prices of new vehicles.

But BSMotoring hasn’t made its mark in the auto-mag market. It isn’t very much known. Why is it so, I fail to understand. At least, it isn’t a bad mag at all. I appreciate the way the articles are written. They are good , in simple english and very reader friendly but sometimes they lack the technical details, which are the delight of serious auto enthusiasts. Some exceptional briefs are there. You know very well that the Chevrolet Optra is actually the new Daewoo Nubira. But did you know it is also the Suzuki Forenza in the US?This type of small facts are aplenty in BSMotoring. The mag also did an exhaustive story on Tata’s new Rs1 lakh car, which would take another four years to see the light of the day.Tata’s own mag OVERDRIVE is tightlipped about that.

The photographs accompanying the articles are quite good but sometimes you feel they could have been shot from more appropriate angles.Trying to be different in photography isn’t a very easy thing. But the captions beneath every photograph are the wittiest.

The paper quality of the magazine leaves a lot to be desired , and better the publisher looks into the matter. Good paper quality makes a great impression in the reader’s mind and it is also helpful in making the photographs appear more vivid.

Another very useful info about BSMotoring: it has a website which is regularly updated and you can even check the contents of the latest issue before purchasing one.Besides there are lots of stunning wallpapers and other goodies like roadtest reports, first drive impressions etc.If you are reading this review, open another browser and visit    http://www.bsmotoring.com   .I believe BSMotoring can teach a thing or two to other mags on maintaining good and visitor-friendly website. You can even find previous stories here and the info base is huge.

Also, free copies of the mag are available which are condensed versions of the regular copies at the newsstands. But they fail to give you the real feel of the mag.”Demo version”concepts are for computer games, not for magazines.

That said, BSMotoring is a fairly good magazine and if you are looking for a light read, then this is the mag to read. However, if you are a serious auto-enthusiast have a thirst for authentic technical facts and would rely on a mag’s reports when buying a car, read Autocar India instead.
