Hai I would like to tell some thing about the word MODEM
it means MODULATUON & DEMODULATION.It converts analog to binary(machine language) and vice versa.I previous used a LANXBIT 56.6 kbps external modem.but when my telephone exchange got flooded with water during the downpour on november 2002, My modem got fried I tried to fix it but the most important IC was gone and it was declared unrepairable.I asked many friends to advice what kind of modem must I buy they said to go for an internal modem.So I went to a famous street in chennai called RICHIE street and got me the cheap and best internal modem DAX 56.6kbps pci modem.Its easy to fit and to instal.
The only precaution that we must take to protect the modem and the mother module is to remove the line(telephone) whenever it is not used.
Internal modem has its advantages:
1)it doesn’t cram precious space in ur table.
2)no messy com port wires.
3)connects very fast(depending upon the os).
4)transfer rate is also decent.
