Buying Second Hand Car

Way back in the year 1994 I bought a second hand car. I was owning a new Maruti Omni

of 1992 Model with number 5352. I sold that car within a period of two years since I had an offer

to buy a second hand car from a friend of mine. The car was Premier 118 NE of 1990 make. My friend bought on

hire purchase scheme from Sundaram Finance, Chennai. I asked him to transfer the loan onto my name and I shall pay

the balance to him. He collected the cheque and then we completed the formalities for the transfer of

loan onto my name. I took possession of the car and drove the previous owner to his house and took the car to my house

and gave surprise to my family. I liked the Premier 118 NE car than any other car since that was the best car available in

the market at that time which was extremely good in terms of Driving Comfort and more than sufficient room inside for a family.

It was a family car. We were all very happy in having that car which was a status symbol in those days for big business people to

own that car. It well very well in the first year. My business grew very well and I was making good money. In the second year, I had some problems

with my principals and slowly my business started falling in terms of volume. I attributed to the general trend in business and I

tried to work hard. Then the business became to a halt since I lost two of my principals who gave me good income. At that time

some body entered into my life and did business with me and I lost Rs 13.00 Lacs. My bank balance was nil and started living on credit cards.

I exceeded the credit limits of the cards and then I reached a stage where I had no other alternative than opting for a job with some reputed company.

I was so bad in finances at that time that I had to sell whatever I had. I consulted astrologers( which is was a norma Middle class person does in such circumstances)

who asked me details of what assets I had and then stayed at the car. He asked me about the registration number of the car which I gave it as

  1. He shot back to me saying, you dispose the car at once. The registration number is the one which is effecting your luck. There is a big fall from the initial’9’ to a’ 0’ followed by a’1’ and’0’ which means I would never

come back in business. SO, I decided to sell that car and I could never get a good price. I had to sell the car for a pittance( Rs 40, 000).

I then bought another car bearing a number 5221. I had a good beginning and then again slowed down after one year. I was again advised that the number is wrong and I should get rid of that car. I disposed and got a new

car with registration number’ 5666 which totals to 23 which totals to’5’ which is supposed to be my lucky number. After I got the new car I am sailing well and my

business started picking up and I hope to recover all my losses.

Therefore my sincere suggestion to everybody who want to buy a second hand car is to thoroughly check the performance of the previous owner of the car, whether the

registration number is suitable to us. Registration number may change the total pattern of your life and business.
