Care of cooking oils.

You have all seen an add where a women considers her husband health as her first priority while buying a cooking oil. I hope your wife / mother / sister/ daughter also does  the same.Infact it is necessary for every individual to buy the right cooking oil as it is a matter of one’s own health. No indivual loves to be called as  Haay Bechaara Dil ka mareez . Excuseme by’ Bechaara Dil ka mareez’ I do not mean that the individual is in love with some one instead I mean he is victim of Hypertension, CHD etc.

One’s responsibility towards his & his family’s health does not end with buying Soya or Sunflower or Mustard oil or by consuming the right amount of oil. Infact how we keep & use oil is also very important in maintaining good health. So here are some important  tips of how to keep & use oils.

TIPS FOR KEEPING OILS:

1) Keep oil in a bottle which is clean & free from smell. So that the oil will maintain its own aroma.

2) Keep oil in air tight bottle.

3) Keep oil away from direct sun light.

One must  follow these tips inorder to prevent OXIDATION OF OILS. Oils contain Polly Unsaturated Fatty Acids( PUFAs) which get oxidised in the presence of Sun-light & Oxygen .Once the oil gets oxidised it develops off flavours.Consuming such oils will cause **headache, nausea etc.

TIPS FOR USING OILS:

*1) Never over heat oils.

2) Descard oils which have become dark brown in colour due to repeated use.

3) Strain the oil before refilling it into the bottle.

4) Always cool the oil first before refilling the oil into the bottle.

5) If a very strong flavoured food is cooked in the oil than freshen the oil by frying in it some potatoes.

By over heating an oil a chemical compound is formed within the oil which makes the oil brown in colour also it changes the taste of the oil. Not only this the oil may catch fire.Foods made in such oil will cause stomach pain, vomiting, headache, itching in throat & esophagus.
