I stayed in Cabana Hotel, GK1, New Delhi for 3 days. I changed rooms thrice. Why? Well, wouldn’t you. if you were kept in a claustrophobic room which didnt have a fan or windows and the AC didnt allow the room temperature to go below 29 degrees? First, the good part - the location is excellent(GK1 main road) and the staff are very courteous and helpful. Thats it. Now the bad part. Imagine this. you go to Delhi during summer on a vacation. You spend the entire day roaming in the heat. You come back tired and all you ask for is a chilled room to rest in.
Cabana Hotel is certainly not the place to come back to. The rooms are really small, there are no windows(at least none you can open), no fan and an AC which is either too small for the already small room or has been tampered with to save power so that it doesnt work properly. You set the temperature to 18 but your AC compressor will stubbornly turn off once the temperature touches 29. If you are lucky, your room might actually stay at that temperature, or like with us, it will keep shifting between 31 and 33.
We had to change rooms thrice during our 3 day stay there in search of a room which at least didnt feel like an oven and allowed us to sleep without having to wake up feeling hot and in a sweat every 30 minutes. It was a torturous experience for us. I suggest you only think of going there in winter where it is very cold so you wont need an AC or fan. Or you could also suggest it to someone whose vacation you really want to spoil.
