HDFC bank purchased CCD gift vouchers and sent us in Sept 2011. I discovered they were valid upto 31st Jan 2012(after reading the very fine print on the dark reverse of the voucher which said "Offer valid upto 31st Jan") Which offer? These were gift vouchers purchased for CASH. Nowhere on the face of the voucher was any "expiry date" or "valid until" date mentioned.
When I took them to the CCD outlet on 4th FEB I was informed that they will not be accepted. I contacted the office of CCD with a request to extend the validity by 3 months so that I can consume the vouchers but they refused saying that as per their business model they cant extend the validity!
This is a great way to make money and high profits. These vouchers have been bought for CASH. So what is the problem of extending the validity by 3 months? ELSE they should refund the money to the purchaser, for all unconsumed vouchers.
They have collected the money in advance, and now do not accept the vouchers. There is NO OFFER on these vouchers, no special discounts or any benefit. Its just Vouchers in lieu of cash. So I dont know what it means to print "offer valid upto." what offer?
CCD is just cheating its customers in as many ways as possible.
