I booked in calangute residency bcos it was cheap. all other hotels/ resorts were 2-3 times expensive. but then I read reviews in mouthshut, I was depressed, I was going to have a terrible holiday. The booking process strenghthened my worries. I had to call some no, deposit the money in a bank account, send the receipt as fax, then htere was no response, I had to call them again ( they never attend phone in central booking office ), they never sent me receipt.
At last I landed in hotel, my friend was already asking me, if we could move to some other hotel. their booking was from 12 noon, I landed ther at 7.30 am. so, I had to wait. mean while I had break fast., hired a bike, and went around for some while. the staff at the resort were really good. (for govt sector) they were responsive, respected us, were patient. attended all complaints immediately. the reception staff told me he will give me first room available, and he did. by 10. the room was ok, . from exterior it requires a repaint. but interior is ok. tv was not working, my kid doesnt eat without it. they immediately replaced it.
The restaurant was good. it is actually run by private party. food, evening band (thye could have played more goan music, on guitar) , was good. one day, we returned at 11.30 pm, the restaurant was closed. but the staff there served us, whatever was available, we were really pleased. I think on the whole, the deal was value for money. it was especially made worthwhile by the people there. I think its goan nature. ill stay ther again
