Ever since the Portuguese left Goa, Goa govt has not even looked into the hotel. Unfortunately we were the first to break the ice and walk into a Double AC cottage (they say it was ocean facing, probably because it was facing the west direction) on 27/10/2005. From the very first look, I asked the waiter, has the Indian Govt/ Goan Govt ever opened this room. But the waiter was least bothered and was hell bent on tips for the excelllent service (typical of any Govt employee). I scolded him and he ran out muttering something. Perhaps Portuguese Govt had leased out the Cottage to National Geogrphic experimenters for breeding giant sized mosquitoes. There were mosquitoes everywhere, esp the almirah. The toliet was unflushed since Portuguese time. The room was full of damp filthy smell as though bacteria on a dead rotten animal were rotting. The best part was the balcony/ open terrace. It didnt have a lock. So When in Goa, do it openly was the theme of GTDC. Frustrated by this AC room we went to complain to the manger who was more busy in netting the next bakra. The moment I started abusing that pig, he listened to me. He then advised me to pay Rs 300/- and move out to AC Rooms which were truely sea facing. THE AC was just a fan without freon intheir HE tubes. Upon living in this hotel for 2 more days I realised the GTDC gameplan. They used to push max people to these expensive rooms to increase their pockets. For doing it they used to dirty their other lower end rooms. But what if they lost customers!!! Whose father what goes! koi aur aa jayga.. Does it have any effect on their fat salary cheques???
