I lived in California for about a year. In southern California, the city of , San Diego, in a small town called Mira Mesa (which roughly translates from Spanish to mean, the look table)
San Diego is a fairly large city that borders Tijuana, Mexico at the southern most tip.
In San Diego, you can find many interesting things to do and places to stay.
There is Balboa Park Zoo and Wildlife Preserve, where you can see a world of different animals living in a man made natural habitat setting.
You can visit The Museum of Natural History where you can walk through millions of years of the earth and mans evolution.
Scripps Institute of Oceanography is also located in San Diego where you can take a tour of all the wonders of undersea life. And discover (and be amazed) at the wonderful things we are doing to help conserve our oceans and aquatic life.
Just outside the Institute you can spend a fun filled day visiting Sea World of San Diego. Here you get to interact with dolphins, seals, manatees, sea lions and even whales and sharks.
The Serra Historical Museum is where you can walk around looking at the history of San Diego from as far back as when the Spanish ruled the area.
The Star of India, a full rigged, old iron ship is docked near the old San Diego Church Mission, and tours are available for both the ship and the old Mission.
In the heart of San Diego, you can visit Old Town, which is a restored area of the city, allowing you to see the old adobe homes, shops and community cooking areas.
Dont forget to stop in and spend an afternoon at the Wildlife Park either(Not the same as Balboa Park). This wildlife Park houses mostly animals that were rescued from other zoos, circuses and the general public, who thought that owning a lion cub would be cute...until it grew up.
And if you have a Sunday afternoon free, hop on the tram and head down to Tijuana, Mexico to sightsee and buy very inexpensive leather goods and beautiful pottery and other Mexican goodies. You can even take in a Bullfight (Which I think is cruel, and would not go to.)
If none of that interests you, you can always hit the beautiful beaches!
All in all, San Diego, with its moderate climate (60s during the winter and 80s during the summer) is a great vacation spot. But, it is quite expensive to live there.
And dont forget, youre just a few hours ride away from Hollywood!(Hollywood, where anyone can become a star...even YOU !)
