CoD Advanced Warfare is an FPS game complete with turret sections, quicktime events, and many other features. So, it’s basically the same run-and-gun Call of Duty game you’ve been playing for the last 8 years but with better graphics. It is much better than CoD Ghost in gameplay, the graphics and the story. Advanced Warfare introduces some cool futuristic gadgets. The most intriguing are the Exo suits, which gift their wearers with abilities such as double-jumping, strafe dashing, and many other special abilities. Some elements of the game doesn’t really fit in. Showing scenes of mass graveyards and rows of coffins lining entire areas doesn’t have a place in this game. It’s the future. I mean shouldn’t you have super health or something? But it is good nonetheless.
The main part of shooter games are the guns and in this game the guns are scattered literally in every inch of the game and they’re awesome to use. There are many big and powerful guns, punching armour piercing shots. Others fire the sh*t out of your enemies. There’s even a laser-beam-rocket-fire-thingy weapon— basically what you have is a proton pack from the Ghostbusters series, the only difference is that this proton pack extracts ghosts from living people. Flinging the energy beam of the pack between your enemies is entertaining. Even the frag grenades have been upgraded to fly towards threats all on their own.
The gameplay is awesome and it is very user friendly. I’d gotten pretty used to this since I’m a huge CoD fan but it is much better than the gameplay of CoD Ghost. The aim here is very simple- ready, aim, shoot repeat. But it is kind of boring playing the same thing over and over and over again. I mean, you know you’re not gonna die but I at least need a little bit of a challenge.
As I mentioned earlier, Advanced Warfare has some pretty neat graphics. Despite some ugly bits, this is by far the best looking Call of Duty. The Antarctica level in particular is gorgeous, with glowing caves of ice and wind blowing over huge areas of snow. The cut-scenes in between the missions, almost look life life. And talk about Kevin Spacey. Has anyone seen his face in the game? If not, just look him up on google right now. I promise you that you won’t be able to distinguish the real one from the in-game one. Who doesn’t love Kevin Spacey right?
Overall the game is good and I loved it but the Call of duty franchise is getting a bit old nowadays. It’s a good game but it’s become a bit to repetitive.
