I bought a CKJ polo T shirt from Shoppers Stop, South City Mall, Kolkata in Dec 2012. I had never tried anything under CK umbrella before and used to stick(even now) within Tommy Hilfiger and French Connection- my two most favorite labels, and Lacoste sometimes.
The T shirt was priced at Rs 3200 and even after 30% discount, it landed around Rs 2500. Definitely I had lot of expectations from it. I liked the color and texture. The CKJ logo embedded looked like made of rubber it seemed and I was a bit skeptical about it. After I wore it and then gave it to ironing to my Mrs, she as usual took a precaution of not ironing it on the face of it, rather warmly pressing it upside down as she always does for my other labels. After ironing, when she put it straight, we were stunned to find that the "K" of CKJ (made of cheap quality rubber definitely, and the fabric manufacturing was China, which I cared to see that time only!!) had slightly got a touch of melt..!!!! Even though, South City is around 36km from my house, we rushed there the next day and showed it to the Shoppers Stop service desk.
Even the ladys initial reaction was quite accommodating and she said this really cant happen at the first ironing and that too from upside down and not applying the heat directly on the rubber. But then, when she consulted with her senior for an exchange, the guy apologetically told me that CK will never accept this as a manufacturing fault and will never take back. My initial reaction was " With Rs 2500, anyone can get a dozen of such cheap quality T shirts, if the label is not of CK"!! I have sworn in not to buy another piece of CK apparel ever in my life, such cheap stuff, cheap manufacturing and then simply putting CK logo and charging whopping premium- this is what they do at these thrill world countries to fool people!
