The Saint Lawrentian of Eastern Canada is an excellent way of discovering this part of Canada as my wife and I found out during Sept/Oct 2000. On this tour were 44 people from different walks of life, and we got on well with all of them. This made a great atmosphere, especially in the hotels. All the hotels are hand-picked by Thomas Cook and are of high quality. (minimum 4*).
Thomas Cook have a holiday manager with you from your arrival at Heathrow airport, right through your tour until you arrive back at Heathrow. You are treated to Executive lounge facilities at the airport until your flight is called. Included are free drinks and nibbles.
The tour of Canada commences in Montreal. After overnight stay there is a morning city tour of Montreal which includes the Notre Dame Basilica , The Olympic Park (of 1976 games). The rest of day is your own. Overnight in Montreal. Morning at leisure. Afternoon travel by coach to Quebec. Next day is tour of city a.m. Rest of day at leisure. Next day is your own or on optional whale watching tour.
Next you go to Saint Adele in Laurentians. The best time to see this area is in autumn for the colour of the trees. The Maple trees at this time of the year are spectacularly coloured red as the leaves are turned by the sugar oxydizing.
Again coach travel of the area is optional but well worth it.
The next part of the tour is to Ottawa. A city tour is again included in price. Also you get full day of leisure.
Day 10 is travelling to Toronto, via the 1000 Islands, on th St Lawrence Seaway.
A boat trip round the islands is optional but an excellent way of looking at them.
Toronto is the last part of the tour. A city tour is included which takes in a visit to the CN Tower. A trip up to the top is included . The rest of the day is your own. This is an exceptional trip as you can walk on a glass floor and look to the ground below.
The next day is a trip to Niagara Falls, which includes an optional helicopter ride over the Falls (A MUST). This helicopter ride takes approx 20 minutes and takes you over the Niagara park area. You get spectacular views from the air of both the Horseshoe Falls and the American Falls. The boat ride on the Maid of the Mist which takes you right up to the falls on the river is included in the price. You get a free poncho which is well worth it, as you get very wet from the spray.
The next day is your own for the morning and then you fly back to Heathrow from Toronto, again with the tour manager.
This helps if you have any problems.
I would highly recommend this type of tour if you want to see many cities of Eastern Canada.
