We bank with other Indian Banks, but never came across a bank like Canara Bank, not disclosing the branch, Kolkata. I dont know whether to really shrug it off or take it into our stride as to what is happening now. We have a locker and the fees till last year was Rs2360, Suddenly, this year, we see the double of it being debited which is Rs 4720 for locker, Then we see Rs 18 being debited for SMS Alert fees- a service we have never used, never get any alert messages from the bank, yet I am getting such horrendous fees levied against my account. Canara Bank should be paying me the Alert fees for being on alert with this bank, ever since I opened the account, as you never know what charges they will debit and when. This is what happened with us and is still happening, In 2019, my husband, physically went to cancel such sms alert fees and gave a letter to the branch manager but till date we have been charged on it and every time, I have to fight for a refund as we are not using the service, There is no doubt we will close off our account on our next visit, but just letting it out on public platform, that this was a Bank we trusted, wanted to build a strong relationship with, and they treated us like dust on the road, taking away whatever and whenever they felt like taking without proper explanation. And you know what the funny part is- The complains we are making through internet banking are being closed off, without answering our questions, without any resolution, . Every night, I am fighting this battle, because, at the end of the day, its our hard earned money and we want it back. .no matter how small or big the amount is.what is not right, is simply not right! Every night, I am sitting and lodging a complain. .maybe it will go higher up .
Latest update- we closed the account, but luckily got the sms alert fee reversed . Been a very bitter experiene but learnt from it as well.
