This is my first DSLR and have been using it for more than one year now. Faced absolutely no issues till date. I went for the combo offer with the 55-200 mm lens and that was a good buy since it is essential if you are shooting in the mountains or a forest. One important aspect to remember is that this camera is not climate-protected which means moisture can enter in easily. I experienced this in Goa where my beach facing hotel room was super chilled and outside was super hot and humid. Every time I stepped out with my chilled cam the inner surfaces of the lenses and the mirror used to get heavy fogging. This was quite frustrating as I had to remove the lenses and wait till the condensation disappeared or had to manually wipe them each time. But this happens only when you are exposed to extremes of temperature and humidity in quick succession. I had no problems during two of my Himalayan trips where temperatures were around zero degrees and humidity was quite low. Anyway only high end professional DSLRs come with climate protection so at this price range I will not complain. The 8 GB SD card that comes bundled along is enough for hardly 700 odd photos at highest resolution and so you might like to upgrade to a higher capacity card.
The camera and lenses are apparently sturdy as they were not damaged when I droppped my camera bag from my car onto the road once. The bag supplied is of good quality and I can easily fit the body and both the lenses in the bag easily. However carrying all of these together is heavy and cumbersome if you are trekking so a point and shoot camera is better on a trek. Image quality is awesome and so typically Canon! The user interface and settings are easy to understand if you have basic knowledge of photography concepts. So overall 5 stars for this wonderful camera. It is not possible to get a better camera at this price point(I got the body and both lenses at 22k). An awesome camera for beginning your journey into the world of photography!
