I tried to book the camera on the first day it was launched on Amazon. But it wasnt deliverable to my location(Dehradun). I rushed to the Canon showroom and also checked at some of the authorized dealers. I got the best deal at a nearby shop. Got the DSLR with 18-55 lens for 26000. I was literally scolded by my photographer friends for choosing 1300D over 700D. But I am happy with my purchase. I have saved around Rs 5000 by choosing 1300D and not 700D. Secondly, There are a few things which are better in 1300D and its the latest offering so has the latest features added. And the using wifi is awesome while taking pics remotely.
Pros:
Light weight and very sturdy built.
Very good picture quality.
Firmware is very good. Camera never hangs.
Wifi feature is very practical, one can click stills and transfer images using a wifi enabled phone.
16 GB card provided is an upgrade from 8 GBs provided in other canon DSLRs
Battery is also upgraded, and provides a better backup. It lasted for around 1000 shots during a recent shoot with low flash use.
DIGIC 4+ feels even faster than DIGIC 5 on 700D.
Low light performance is better than 1200D.
Buttons are placed on the right hand, layout is ergonomically very good.
Features low pass filter for better image stabilization.
Cons.
No touchscreen.
A little expensive, just a few thousand rupees cheaper than more potent 700D.
No Auto focus in Video mode.
Display screen is fixed and can not be tilted.
No external mic and headphone jack.
One cant shoot videos remotely using WiFi.
Conclusion: Practically very good camera for amateur photographers. Go for it if you are not much into shooting professional videos.
Attaching some stills taken with 1300D.
