On the occasion of my sister’s ring ceremony, what better gift i(A self proclaimed professional photographer) could have bought for myself to capture those lifetime memories? You guessed it right.:) It’a Canon Digital Camera (Model: A520) & believe me after using that camera for over 23 days, I was not disappointed at all but was shocked..as the results were amazing/unbelievable..and u know what this digital camera is a ’Semi Professional’ one????? Looks:
The looks factor played a major role in my mind when buying this particular digicam.I fell in love with it the first moment I saw it.The lens body is made of steel giving it a bold design..The ’Click’ Button, ’Zoom Scroll’, ’Feature Dial’ etc are all chrome plated..The camera body is silver finished giving the whole thing a re-freshing look..
In short: It’s a compact, great to look at camera in terms of looks.

Camera Modes:
These modes are there to help you make your photography perfect......or I say outstanding........hehe they are just cool and helpful at most of the times....Let’s have a look at them.
- ’Auto’ Mode:
In this mode the camera automatically adjusts the resolution, the shutter speed, flash speed/friction, ISO speed, Aperture and focus on the object according to the natural light available, Shooting angle and various other aspects.....The results are good in this mode.
- ’Portrait’ Mode:
This special mode is used to take pictures of a single object/human being..When the ’Features dial’ is set to this mode, then the lens autumatically tries hard to focus particularly on the object being viewed/selected through the LCD Screen at the back.For eg: I used this mode to click the photograph of my sister only. The results were/are excellent in this mode......
- ’Night’ Mode:
In normal camera’s when at night you click photographs of an object or a human being with an amazing background like the buildings lit with lights....the results show only that object/human being and not the background...But in this digicam if you select the ’Night’ Mode, then the camera provides extra flash light during a photo capture..Guess what???The developed prints or photo in the LCD screen shows both the things......(Object + Background)....Amazing huh???
- ’Running’ Mode:
When you click an image/photo of an running object such as dogs, humans.....through normal cams the results are bleared and unpleasing to the eye because the lens is not able to focus it’s object quickly......Wait a minute----Turn the dial to the ’Running’ Mode and then capture the image/photo.The results are pretty decent.....You are able to see that object/human clearly to some extent...
- ’Movie’ Mode:
Through this mode you can capture a video+Sound of an ongoing party or anything else you wish to..No flash light is provided by the camera, it uses only natural light.Then use the software to covert the video into a movie.The capturing time depends on the Memory available through the Memory Card.In other words, in the movie mode the digital camera acts as a Handy cam.(U must have heard of it).
- ’Macro’ & *’Snow’ Mode:
This mode is used to capture a photo when the distance between the lens and the subject in 5 to 50 cm...Also is used to take close ups of flowers and small objects...
Use the snow mode when shooting against the backdrop of snowy mountains...Prevents camera shake.

Software:
One software CD & One manual CD has been provided in the package. Coming to the software one, it’s simply awesome. I have never seen such an amazing software which is easy to use while the interface is user friendly.It is called: ’’CANON UTILITIES’’.Through this software we can transfer the photos shooted/clicked into the hard drive & vice-versa, edit the video clips/photos (Crop, Resize, Adjust Brightness, print etc) shooted and burn them onto a CD, Stitch/compile many photographs(MAX 10)into one resulting in an postcard form.
In short: ’Exceptional’....

1. Size: It is very small/sleek or I should say, it’s ’Compact’. It can easily fit into your pocket of your paint/shorts or whatever..
2. Battery: The camera uses 2 pencil cells very very easily available in the market .After the cells finish up, a warning is displayed.

Recommendation:
I will surely recommend this camera to everyone who wants to take Photography as it’s passion or hobby..Same Thing.....Not suited for a Professional guy as the Optical zoom is low.
