I was looking for around 8MP with 3X Optical Zoom and smaller in size Digicam. I am no expert in photography but was looking to learn at considerably lower price tag.
Choice was between Canon A590IS, Sony S730 & W110, Nikon L19 & Olympus FE-370 (since with charger + memory card + pouch should be less than 10, 000/-)
So finally came down to Canon & Sony W100. (Sony S730 has Sony Lens with big body, the general reviews about Nikon was is expensive for L19 model with no Image Stab and FE-370 is not recommended for Brightness & Contrast in Sun Photos & Night Photos).
W110 has Carl Zeiss lens with Smile Shutter but 7.2 MP camera. W120 or W300 are expensive. Again with built-in Battery.
Canon A590IS has 8.1MP with 4X Optical Zoom but NO SMILE SHUTTER plus the size is not exactly pocket size. But standard AA batteries so you dont run out of power anywhere
So, finally, I gave in for Canon A590IS for the following :
1) Battery AA
2) Not a Pocket Size but a decent grip on Camera so you can hold it steadily.
3) 8 MP with 4X zoom at price tag of aroud 8K.
4) It has MANUAL feature which no Sony W range digicam has got. You can actually tweak your cams Aperture, Speed, Flash, Macro, In-camera Touch-up and the Red Eye (sony too have it)
After using for 6 Months, I have found that
1) Parents to love to operate, so I very sure that the ease of operation is 10/10.
2) Photo Quality is too good for Outdoor as well as Night Mode.
3) The best part is MACRO pics. All those mehendi pics are fabulous.
4) Connectivity to PC also good. 1 Key and photos are downloaded.
Now, few minus points :
1) Battery Life : If you go on continuously using the camera, then virtually you can get around 150 Flash Photos but if you decide to keep the Battery in Camera and leave it there then are asking for trouble. Batteries will go almost overnight. (Although I complained to Service Center nothing could come out of it) So, Enjoy the Camera and don;t forget to remove the batteries as soon as your shooting is over for the day.
