The first time I lay my hands on this point-and-shoot camera I thought it was way too compact, but tiny only in terms of size not performance
Its just a tad bigger than a credit card, just a little more thicker, very lightweight and pretty portable/ pocketable .
Available in 4 fun colours- Pink, orange, black and silver.
But since its tiny the controls and buttons are overly small as well it may make some of you with large hands / fingers a little time getting used to. The worst culprits being the Mode switch and the zoom trigger
The LCD display is just 2.7 inches but is quite sharp with 230K-dot resolution . The camera is very quick to start and be ready to take the first shot in just about 1.9 seconds with the shutter lag at just .6 seconds. The minimum time you need in between shots is also just 3.6 seconds .
The connectivity is quite good.you get 1 mini hdmi port to project the screen on an HDTV/ monitor and you also get 1 mini-usb port to transfer Data to a PC. Both these ports are covered in a compartment .
The camera is very easy to operate and gives you crisp good quality pictures and videos ie
Highest resolution size(still/video) 4, 320 x 3, 240 pixels /1, 280x720 at 30fps
The stills are in the jpeg format while the video in mov H.264 format .
The storage media is SD/SDHC/SDXC card, MultiMediaCard, MMC Plus, HC MMC Plus.
I only wish the battery could be charged within the camera itself but thats not the case one has to get it out and charge it in a separate charger that was supplied with the camera .
Since the shot life is rated at 230, so might need to open the battery compartment quite a bit, the SD card sits next to the battery in the same compartment and is located at the bottom of the camera .
One also gets a 4GB SD card from sandisk as a standard inclusion plus cables for both mini hdmi and Mini-USB/AV ports .
The camera uses 3 modes .auto for new or novice users.the video mode for video shooting in HD and the camera mode for expert / advanced users .
The video quality was found to be quite impressive but the microphone at the bottom does not capture very clear audio and it felt a lot unclear and lacking crispness, While shooting videos sometimes I struggled to keep the subjects in focus as well, but only sometimes .
Overall It was one of the best Point and shoot cameras in the market back when it hit the market in 2010 .
We also get New scene modes such as Miniature Effect and Fisheye Effect; Low Light mode for dimly-lit situations. The low light pictures are also not bad .
With built -in type- flash, these modes are available - auto, Flash off, manual, Red-eye reduction . The cameras forte is its images and not so much the videos which may come out grainy in low light indoor conditions and 720p is probably not adequate for professional shooting
Some of my videos on my youtube channel have been shot using the same camera where I could use the most fragile Gorilla tripod to support the ultra-light camera . The videos without the tripod had to be stabilized using youtubes inbuilt anti-shake feature as the camera lacks it . I felt the need to improve the brightness and contrast as well using youtubes inbuilt video editor .
with only 4x optical zoom which is disabled while shooting videos this camera was never a zooming wonder but will be long remembered as the most sleekest & slimmest point and shoot from canon .
