My one year old Indica Vistas winshield got damaged & the glass got broken, due to a sharp object that pierced it on Saturday evening at Bangalore. I was completely dejected that my new car suffered this accident & also feared to think that I would have to be without my car at least for the next 4-5 days, until it the winshield is replaced, plus the running around for insurance & other documentation.I immediately called up a TATA Motors workshop in Bangalore- on a Saturday evening when they were about to close for the day... the concerned insurance help desk Manager told me that the cost of replacing the wind shield would be around Rs.9000 & the car will have to be with them for at least 4 days.
Although I requested them for an early repair, I was told that insurance claim procedures are too long, hence this duration was definitely needed. While I was deep in thought that I would have to manage without my car for almost a week, I suddenly recalled having read about Windshield Experts, the wind shield repair network. On a Sunday afternoon, I casually called the Bangalore Dickenson road branch, though I knew that they may be off... to my surprise, my call was received & in no time, I got a quotation as well.
The Manager told me to get my vehicle to their workshop on Monday, with an assurance as well that they would assist in my insurance claim formalities too, to hasten the repair.By then, I had already registered a claim with my insurer- HDFC Ergo.On Monday around noon, I took my car to their premises, along with the mandated documents & claim form. My documents were submitted to the insurance company & an approval came (though delayed by HDFC when compared to other insurers like Reliance & TATA AIG) in about 2 hours, which I still consider as a good time.To my delight, the broken windshield was replaced in just flat one hour time. I totally spent just about 4 hours in their work shop... now this is some customer experience.Thats not all, what was supposed to cost me Rs.9000 in a TATA workshop finally cost me Rs.6000 & I had to only pay up for the rubber & other consumables as per insurance claim norms... a whopping Rs.3000 difference is indeed a good saving. The staff & mechanics were neatly dressed & well behaved, in addition to being very helpful too.I definitely recommend Windshield Experts to every car owner. We never know when a freak accident could occur.
I pray & hope that no one meets with an accident, but in the event of someone losing their windshields in an unfortunate accident, please visit Windshield Experts! I think they are different.Cheers!
