This movie is awesome .It just blows away all doubts about whether Daniel Craig is the right choice to play James Bond .
’Keep It Simple Stupid’ is a forgotten formula which is the reason why this movie is so appealing.The storyline is simple , the editing is superb and you have no chance of missing the plot at any point of time .This is complemented by excellent cinematography and a good soundtrack.
And yes, you have to watch the movie for Daniel Craig - he steals the 007 badge right under the nose of his predecessor Pierce Brosnan so much so that inbetween the movie you start wondering why Daniel wasnt bought in to play James Bond earlier !!
Throwback to the days when the temperamental James Bond is assigned 00 status is where the movie begins.The Bond is still learning as the reels roll .But you cant start thinking all that because the first 45 minutes , you cannot take your eyes off the screen as the action is so spectacularly spellbinding.It is true escapism from the real world which is what I look forward to in a movie.
After all the action Bond has to get refined to win a poker game against the villain who is a ’private banker to the world’s terrorists’( I love that description man).The tricks and action continue in Casino Royale after the interval .
Then there is a twist in the tale towards the end which is intended to give more shape to the new James Bond character as a precursor to the sequels I suppose.
The movie ends with ’The name’s bond ..James Bond ’ line. A fitting cap to a well executed project.
The supporting cast is good.The villain Le Chibre oozes evil, there is a mother-son kind of relationship between Bond and M here.Eva Green looks very pretty in some angles and the locales are great.
Guys - dont miss this movie .Watch it in the theatres.The movie takes the character of James Bond towards a new dimension while retaining its originality( ah! how we can play with words).
