Calculators have become an integral part of anybody who is in the field of mathematics or engineering. With so much data to be calculated in such a short span of time, a calculator is a must. Especially in the field of Engineering Calculators are a necessity. They are an asset and I am experiencing it day in day out.
In this field of calculators, Casio is the best. Surely, nobody has ever made a mark in this field as much as they have done. Every now and then they come up with something really superb and mind boggling. Redefining the engineering calculator, comes this product from Casio, the Casio fx-300s which promises to be a big hit. Sleek, stylish and simple, the calculator is all set to take over its internal rival fx-82TL. Let us look into the calculators features and its specialties.
The Calculator:
The calculator comes with plastic keys that are strong ad sturdy. Moreover they are provided with side support for more user help. The design is exclusive and exquisite. Very slim and lightly weighing, the calculator comes with a two way power. The display is not two tier. This may at times be a cause for concern but never mind. All main operation are displayed in the sub-tier above. Everything is clearly indicated. For example, when I used to calculate the conversion of polar to rectangular and vice versa, I used to wonder which was R and which was Theta. That problem is completely solved as everything is respectively displayed in the right order. This is where the sub-tier display plays a role of importance.
Functions:
With an option of calculating 206 functions, the calculator comes with V.P.A.M, thus falling as a lesser mortal in comparison with fx-82TL. But if you ask me, this model has more usable functions. Apart from the usual engineering equipments like trigonometric, logarithmic, inverses, squares, cubes & their roots, factorials, standard deviation, polar-rectangular conversions and hyperbolic functions, the calculator beholds the linear regression mode. What makes it special is that, in linear regression, no parenthesis is required. More so, the ease with which these operations can be done is what impressed me most.
What is so Special? :
There are some features in this calculator that makes it special. Like the ENG mode. Normally, it is used to express decimal numbers in powers. But out here there are two ENG keys using which you can express a decimal either in positive powers or negative powers. Then come the assignment operator key. Using this you can assign a number to be positive r negative. With a (8+2) digit display and 7 number memory it offers memory clear by the touch of just a key.
How different is it from fx-100s?: Well, there is really not much of a difference between the two. Only thing is that the Casio fx-300s has no complex number calculations and the processing is not up to the mark. Otherwise this calculator is a wonder.
The best part in this calculator is the two-way power. This gives that much more versatility. More so, the design and lightness of the calculator makes it an automatic choice.
Definitely, the Casio fx-300s is second to none in its category. The processing speed is good and the design and working impresses me most. I personally feel that this calculator is worth it. You can choose either of the two basically. Both 100s as well as 300s are equally good. But I feel this calculator is a bit too special. More so the price is low too. I tell you what, with Casio fx-300s you wouldnt have much of a regret.
