2 weeks back I went to Catch Marine to have lunch (seafood mainly)with a friend of mine. It is located on the 2nd floor of van Husain showroom in 100 feet road, indiranagar, Bangalore.Heard a lot about the joint(both good and bad) so wanted to see for myself.
We entered the main hall, sat and asked for a menu card. what was given to us was menu for todays buffet... I told the waiter person that I m not interested in buffet and only want to have some good sea food. but the uy told nothing is available now except the buffet, and sea food is included in that, with a free mug of beer or soft drink. We should have left the place immediately (remember we only came for sea food), but instead we thought let’s try out buffet only.
Now the variety was plenty, starting from soup (both veg and non veg), pan fried noodles, salads, grilled and fried chicken, chickn biriyani etc and each food was tasty and well cooked. Then I thought there should be a seafood section which they promised but couldn’t find anything asked the waiter and he said the grilled fish is the sea food I m looking for (which was realy the worst item of all), anyway we carried on with our lunch.
Till now everythin was ok, now the drama starts, when we sat down with food the waiter came and asked me whether the food was good or not, i said it is, then immediately he said, we will be closing up this place within 10 minutes so plz hurry up .NOW HOW RUDE IS THAT.
If u have sort of timeline then tell this before starting lunch, and even half of the place was still filled with people. even a couple have just started the lunch. My enthusiasm went down immediately.
It was a really hot afternoon and I asked the waiter whether the a/c is on or not, his answer was there is only a single plug point so we have put fan insted of ac (a single fan facing opposite section) now how stupid is that, if we are paying 275 per person per buffet , is it not worth to put on a basic amenity called a/c? I really got shocked.
The waiter came back again after five minute and asked whether I need another beer said yes, in a very rude manner he said the next beer will cost me extra, I said I know and plz serve me another one, he thought about a minute and told me, THE BAR IS CLOSED, now what the hell is that, was this guy some kind of psycho or didn’t like my face I didn’t understand was really pissed off, i just had dessert and asked for bill,
Now, more surprised awaited , they added both 13.5 % vat and 10.3% service tax together, I have never seen any bill which puts both vat and service tax for the same amount, and total tax came upto almost 150 Rs.now those are something u cant argue, Anyway I paid and came out.
My suggestion for u is if u need to have good buffet, there are plenty of places u will find equally good food , then whets the use of going to a seafood restaurant to have normal buffet(and worst service people)???
