Steven Spielberg has to be the most amazing filmmaker of this age...his brilliance lies in the fact that he is a versatile filmmaker...he has directed it all-ET ( children’s film ) , jaws , Jurassic park ( family dramas ) , schindlers list , amistad , saving private ryan ( period films ) , minority report ( sci-fi ) and the latest ’’ catch me if u can ’’ which happens to be a comedy...it’s quite amazing that he picked up a true story based on the ’once upon a time con man ’ Frank Abagnale, jr and gave it such a treatment that it came across as a breezy film with lots of emotion and not one man cursing Frank for all his misdeeds..Infact people started feeling for him..the film stars leonardo dicaprio as frank , tom hanks as the investigating officer and Christopher walken as the senior frank...the film has got several strong points - great script ( it is actually amazing that this is a true story , that such a person existed in the US who was a master of deception and at the age of 17 became one of the most successful bank robber in the history of US !!! ), great star cast and of course some brilliant performances especially by caprio and walken..
The screenplay is good and the film is really fast which makes for engrossing viewing... the film has this 60’s ( or was it 70’s ) look thanks to Spielbergs regular Oscar winning cinematographer Janusz Kaminski... you just want the film to go on and on and never end..all in all a yet another terrific movie from a terrific director...don’t miss it ...!!
