The other night I watch a Movie called CATCH ME IF YOU CAN. It was Produced and Directed by Steven Spielberg and released, (in 2002), by his Company, DreamWorks Pictures.
It takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes to watch it. In Canada its rated PG 13.
THE CAST:
Leonardo DiCaprio plays Frank Abagnale Jr.
Tom Hanks plays Carl Hanratty
Christopher Walken plays Frank Abagnale Sr.
Nathalie Baye plays Paule Abagnale
Amy Adams plays Brenda
Martin Sheen plays Brenda’s Father
THE PLOT :
Frank Abagnale Jr. is a Impostor and a Pretender.
He is practising medicine without having attending Medical School, practised Law without a Law Degree and got away by being hired as a Pilot, (with Pan Am Airlines), without attending any Flight School.
He was able to do a lot of Banking Cheque Frauds because he pretends to be a Executive of a Company and a Pilot of PanAm Airways. He dazzled women with his charms and wealth. The movie makes some attempt to explain Frank’s behaviour through the adolescent trauma.
The one Person who appreciates and understands Frank’s amazing talent and ability is Carl Hanratty, (an member of the FBI).
Carl Hanratt is in charge of the FBIS Financial Frauds Department. He is the one who chases Frank and at end finds him.
There are many times when Frank outsmarts Carl and this makes Carl look like a fool!
The Plot may be obvious but it is factual and it follows the real Story.
I never tell the entire Plot of a Film and only tell you a little bit to wet your appetite to see it. So this is all I will tell you.
WHILE I WAS WATCHING THIS FILM:
I think that life is if often stranger than Fiction because this Film was made about from a True Story. I almost felt like they were playing a Game I played as a Child called, Catch the Mouse.
I liked the way that Spielberg shows us how Frank commits his crimes and makes him the Villain while Carl the Hero.
The Villain is a young Man, (he was 17 years old), is was having fun and did not think about the consequences of committing crimes.
This happens all of the time when younger People dont think about what they are doing. I wonder if they believe they will never get caught?
THERE WERE 16 SONGS USED IN THIS FILM THE ONES I LIKED BEST WERE:
Come Fly With Me that Frank Sinatra croons.
The Girl From Ipanema played by Stan Getz & Joao Gilberto and sung by Antonio Carlos Jobim.
Embraceable You, (my favourite), that Judy Garland sings.
The Christmas Song sung buy Nat King Cole.
The Look Of Love that Dusty Springfield sings.
I always loves the songs they have heard before.
MY FINAL THOUGHTS:
The acting was brilliant. The music that was composed by John Williams was wonderful and fit the scenes perfectly.
I dont think that anyone but Steven Spielberg could have Directed this film.
This is a Classic Movie and one you shouldnt miss. I highly recommend it to you.
I love it when Members leave Comments so I hope you do.
