In a country like ours where the only sport followed and worshipped religiously is Cricket, Chak De comes as a refreshingly inspiring movie bringing glory to the sport that some of our veterans like Dhyanchand gave their life to, a sport that India has been good at , at every olympics except for recent times. The film also comes as a reality check as it reflects the plight of Indian women in sports and the fairer sex not given it’s due.The film also highlights the Negative side of media and how they can easily tarnish someone’s reputation overnight, it also brings to the fore the issue of sexual exploitation of women going on in various well established sports academies and the extent to which the aspirants can go to get favours, remember bindya nayak’s scene with SRK in the locker room, gives a really sorry picture of India women in sports.
While watching this film you never know what is coming next so u wont get bored and all the debutants have done a remarkable job. SRK does a great job and really love his inspiring speeches, especially the one" I hear only one word-INDIA, INDIA" , despite his own downfall in the movie he trains a team of underdog womens hockey team , who have their own issues and unites them to play as a team , who later go on to win the Women’s hockey world cup.
The film is all about achieving the impossible by inspiring confidence in yourself, team-work and never giving up.Chak de India, chak de phatte.
