Chalk and duster is a very nice scripted film which tries to bring the reality of today’s eduaction in school management. It has a very straight comparison to the sahid kapoor starrer pathsala that was a disaster has it only kept its stance to the staffroom.
Even though chalk and duster tried the bigger thing and took tge tough step of coming outside the staffroom and talking abt something more. The primary aim of the film was to show the hardwork the teachers put in to teach the students but the amount they are paid instead for that labour is quite less.
The teachers shows how a teacher can make a students carrier by building their confidence and motivating them to study well, but the film forgot to show the other type of teachers who at times by their stupid and bad behaviou make the students confidence go deep down and the students in their whole life go through the same trauma and are unable to attain confidence to face the crowd outside the school in colleges or in professional lives. The actors in the film namely divya dutta, juhi chawla , sabana azami have done justice to their roles and there is no complaints on their part. There were special appearances by zarina wahab and richa chadda.
There is a scene in the movie where shabana azami and juhi chawla have a one on one quiz contest in which the contestants should have the knowledge from ancient history to the present times. The subject of how todays the education system is becoming a business for people which we all know should not happen thus this type of storyline could have been dealt in a more better way by the director and the writers. I would not blame the actors as there was nothing in the script for which this important topic could have been made sensationalised or more matured. The story writer lacked research.Thus overall a watchable movie . It is a one time watch and final words would be filn could have been better.
