Kudos to the scriptwriter for enriching a common tale with anecdotes from real life. I am referring to the second half of chalte-chalte. Life may be a bed of roses, but married life is not!
Scenes from SRK and Rani’s screen marriage were straight out of my house! SRK was SRK, but Rani stole the show as the rich girl who adjusts to middle class life without complaining. Here’s a girl who grows up rich but does not mind dealing with the dhobi and sabjiwala after getting married to a middle class boy. She has made a committment and she’s sticking to it. Minor transgressions by her husband are forgiven. It’s only when he insults her in front of guests does she take the step of leaving him.
Hope movies like this which don’t embarass the audience’s sensibilities keep getting made.
