Chandni Bar is a movie that has character and substance. A movie in which Tabu has dominated throughout the movie, but it is not just a Women oriented film. Its rather a movie that make a bold statement on our society. It depicts the bottomless pit of crime, where if someone falls would never be able to crawl his way back, rather he/she may pull a lot of his/her loved one along with.
Complete Plot:
Rest assured this movie has a very original story. One that is neither a copied or inspired from any of our own Bollywood or Hollywood. Still plot is just one of the selling factor of this class product. After the riots in Meerut killed her parents young Mumtaz(Tabu), comes down to Mumbai in search of a job, accompanied with his uncle. Meets Iqbal(played by Rajpal Yadav), who gets her a job of Bar Dancer, at Chandani Bar. She is taught the tricks of the trade by her fellow colleagues. But at home she gets molested by her Uncle. This lives her shattered, but when she learns about the background and the pain of rest of the dancers, she forgets her pain and gets back to the usual chores of life. An Underworld Gangster, regular to the bar, Potia (Atul Kulkarni) falls in love with Mumtaz and when he comes to know of her Uncles incest, he Kills him and subsequently marries Mumtaz. But the destiny have other things in mind, after 2 years of their marriage, Potia is killed in a encounter, planned by the cops. Mumtaz has 2 kids by then. For supporting her family, she goes back to the Dance Bar. Few years later her son get entangled with the law and subsequently is put into a remand home. She had to pay bribe to the cops to get her son out of the remand home. The only way for her is to earn the lump some amount is by selling herself. She having lost her charms, is not able to cough up the whole amount. Her daughter seeing all the trouble at home, being young, goes to the dance bar, Chandni Bar. Mumtazs whole effort of keeping her kids out of her past life fails. At the end of movie even his son kills his fellow inmate of the remand home, who had molested him there. Mumtaz witnesses the murder by his son and is left shattered, just the way movie started.
Direction:
Directed by Madhu Bandarkar, this movie will be known for the conviction of the director, with which its been put onto the cinema halls. A plot that nobody would have dared to put his work in. No Song, except for the few old songs running in the background, at the dance bar. Madhu Bandarkar had made his debut as director in Trishakti. He has also assisted Ram Gopal Verma. Ram Gopal Verma, regards him as one of the best director in Indian Cinema. For the movie Madhu and Tabu, roamed around a lot of dance bar, to know the lifestyle of bar dancers. Which is something new for Indian Cinema.

Rajpal Yadav as Iqbal, has done justice to the Gray Shaded character he is in.

Overall:
This movie gave me goose pimples in a lot of scenes. The Story is great, but no happy ending. This is a must watch, especially as its about to be released on the Cable Network. B4U Movies, have done great buying the telecast rights of the movie.
