Please Note: This note is a second part of the note calledPiqued Paparazzi I wrote in the sectionIs it justified to interefere in personal life of film personalities.I am using this section(CHnaging Face of Indian Tlevision) to write this as Mouthshut doesnt allow one user to write 2 reviews under one section. My aplogies for the inconvinience.
Dear King and Farookh,
Thanks a lot for your comments. I appreciate constructive criticism as much as compliments. Now it?s my responsibility to make myself more clear regarding my review named?Piqued Paparazzi?- where a few things that were unsaid and thus misinterpreted. My fault entirely .I am writing a second part of this review simply because it would have been too long a message and also I feel the need to clarify myself and offer apologies where my viewpoints have been considered anti-social- I?ll use Criminal?s Paras in the comments section of my last review for the purpose of simplicity here:
Para1: We are talking consensual premarital sex.I don?t subscribe to the idea of a necessary legal condition for this to happen. It?s ok and we can move on and be more progressive if we want to. It should always be an individual?s call rather than society?s.
Para2: That Casting Couch exists is no secret. It has existed for me since I have started glossing over any of those movie mags. But, maybe it?s a good idea for this to be brought upfront with proof at least once, which happened. So I guess a repeat performance of such an operation will not be necessary.
Para3: There is absolutely nothing illegal about it. I don?t reckon premarital consensual sex is illegal. It is wrong in principle but not illegal.
Para4: One of the important lessons I have learnt in my life specific to India is that it?s a waste of time trying to beat the system. A system is created to streamline a work process but it is often misused and we have to learn to coexist with/in it.
The unwritten law of the(Film) land says that you are either Shah Rukh Khan or someone sexy to succeed. So if a wannabe actress can?t be a film personality?s heir/ a Miss India or a very talented actress, then she uses other methods by hook or crook simply because the competition is very high. What percentage of filmstars are educated actors?-Less than 10, I am sure.
In principle, if an actress can?t impress a director by her skills, she ought to try and work hard to improve her skill sets and then prove herself to be a money spinner onscreen. We are talking crores of rupees of investment by a producer on an actress. Its the aspirant?s prerogative to decide which path she wants to pursue. If you show an inclination to do a wrong deed for me for your own benefit and I agree to it, then who?s more wrong-U or me? Think about it. Again right and wrong are absolutely relative terms.
Para5: The way I see the difference between Tehelka?politician? episode and the India TV?Bollywood? episode is this:
? A politician taking a bribe to award a contract to a technically undeserving company has a direct effect on my life. Such a company might build a bridge which stands at the risk of collapsing while I am driving over it. It puts my life in danger even though I have paid the required taxes for the bridge to be built safe.
? A Filmstar seeking favors from an amateur is definitely exploiting the newcomer but it does not affect me how much benefit the wannabe actress makes out of the deal. It is a choice she is making for her own reasons and she is entitled to it. Had it been me in her place, I may/may not have done it for my own reasons but my decision wouldn?t affect your life in any way, not in the least if you miss watching me sizzling on screen. For every one person that misses, there will be 10 others to buy the ticket in Black.
Para6: First, all members of the film fraternity may not want to seek such favors. Second, we don?t know howmany filmstars did that girl try to trap before she got the prized catch of Shakti. And third, its wrong but it happens. Haven?t you ever done anything unethical in your life-like bribing a traffic police officer when you jump the red light?.
In case you haven?t done so, then I would like to put you in a hypothetical situation where you happen to jump the signal for which the fine is INR 1500 but the traffic cop says that he can let you go for INR 100 bribe. What would you do? It?s only because the cops make so much money in bribes that the ridiculously high legal fine has not been allowed to reduce by corrupt politicians-They get a share too! As I said, don?t try to beat the system in India.
It?s not gonna help you in this lifetime. And also, if we want to be ethical, then let?s do it in totality-lets not differentiate between highly unethical and somewhat unethical.
Para8: CBI using decoys to catch politicians red handed is perfectly acceptable and the TV doing a sting operation on a film personality is wrong according to me for the same reasons I have stated in Para 5 above.
Para9: I am not jealous of any channel?s TRPs. I rarely watch TV simply because of the large amount of senseless gloss filled in it. But have you noticed that the day this Shakti episode happened, India TV-A News Channel did not air any other news of national consequence but just kept on playing the recordings of the operation.
We have people still recovering from Tsunami, we have VAT implementation in a few days and people don?t know anything about it, we have a financial year ending March 31st which closes the books of all business houses in India driving the economy, we have a new budget with confusions about fringe benefits tax and cash withdrawals, and we have what not?Don?t you think these are more important issues to focus on rather than a framed sex scandal!
I hope I have made myself clearer about my viewpoints here, but you are entitled to your opinion. All said and done, I just want to mention that everything in this world can be judged as right or wrong based on how you perceive it. Many things that we feel are wrong will still happen as there would be no value of virtue without vice. We should not practice vice beyond limits but if someone does, it?s not our job to interfere in his life. Lets just all of us do our own thing!
