This is my first review..and I am writing it on one of the most happening topics going on right now. This review is for those attempting to watch Indian Television for the first time.
This is precisely what to and what not to expect from Indian television;)
Gone are the days of Buniyaad, Sailaab and Hum Log which were soaps which truly obrought the family together at prime time, which usually was one hour. Now, there remains no definition of prime time! Any time your favorite show...or let me be precise, your favorite TV star is on air, that time suddenly becomes a prime time.
Earlier the soaps used to have nice and well-etched out stories. Watching TV nowadays will have you wonder at the thought of what the writers are getting paid for?!
I am NOT into TV-bashing..that is the last thing I want to do as TV alone gives me so much of infotainment in this life of hurry and flurry...but it is just that I cannot but sigh on the sorry state of affairs.Hmm..every other soap on TV is a foreign remake of a foreign soap aired earlier...where is the creativity and the originality?? ofcourse, in the DUSTBIN!
In the last few years, each and every channel has entered the feild of reality television which has raked in the moolah ofcourse...:)
Latest examples are Zees thumping success Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Sonys ground-breaking Indian Idol..and Stars Super Singer...
Incidentally, Indian Idol generated such tremendous revenue for Sony that the channel is back with its sequel...hehe.
You just cannot expect any brains from Indian TV nowadays..earlier the story used to rule but today, TV has created sensational heart-throbs who seem to have stolen every other females heart.
Ask any TV buff, he/she will be ga-ga over the TV superstars..like Ronit Bose Roy, Smriti Irani and gang..he/she watches a show ONLY and ONLY for their TV idol..
TV is all about idol-ga-ga...and no more about the inrtiguing storylines and the fun family moments...
