Chaukori a place of charming beauty with cozy atmosphere. I went there in 2002 with my family . I love to live in Kumaoun Tourism Rest House huts and enjoy the snowy weather. The huts are so beautiful and the lawn of this KTRH is a place where one can sit whole day without any company to see and enjoy the beauty of mountains full of glaciers within a eye distance and can feel that the snowly winds are touching smoothly. I prefer and advise to go there and enjoy the few moments of your lfie to be kept in the soft corner of one’s life.
After enjoying this place we can also enjoy easily accessible place from Chakauri is known as
Patalbhubneshwar (about 25 kms) a journey of one hour by taxi. Beautiful cave telling the marvolus creativity of nature related to the Pandav’s life. For this trip one can enjoy the other beautiful places in and around Chakauri in the state of Uttranchal. The typical Pahari Food Aloo ke Gutke, Pakora, Chai (Tea) will also give the relief from the long journey.
The culture and living standard of the people also tell a truth of their life. The life in this area is very simple . People are still living in the houses made by their fore fathers like jhoprinuma ghar. These houses are made up of pahari pathar and mud.
I also enjoyed the food basically different types of pahari dals (bhat ki dal, gahat ki dal, ches etc). and chulhe ki choti , which one can get by order.
I strongly recommend that one must go there with family and can enjoy a week.
