Cheecoo is another of the adbars which pay benefit you in some way or
the other for using it. Cheecoobar displays ads while you are online
and in return u are reimbursed with money or some gifts depending on
the no. of points (Cheecooseeds) that you collect.
The concept does sound interesting but on a detailed study it looses
its lustre coz the redemptions aren’t worth the effort that you take.
Firstly you download a 2 mb application and install it. 2ndly the
Cheecoobar minimizes the area of your desktop and no window can be
located over the bar. Sadly the Cheecoobar is very demanding on the
computer’s memory resources and often goes into a hang or freezes
itself. When this happens, you cannot reclaim the desktop space earlier
occupied by the cheecoobar.
Another interesting point is that you can earn a maximum of 30 points
in a month. This I feel is a step taken to prevent misuse or to overcome
fraudulent usage. However if you consider the no. of Cheecooseeds that
you have to earn to redeem them for gifts, it will take a really long
time till u earn a worthwhile no. of Cheecooseeds. I had used Cheecoobar
for some 3 months and did receive a cheque from them. But over a period
of time I’ve lost interest in it coz of the Cheecoobar’s lack of stability
and demand over memory resources.
Another drawback is the news article in a leading newspaper that the
company behind Cheecoobar has laid off a part of its staff. This casts
doubts the life of the concept and their scheme of redemption of Cheecooseeds
which will actually happen in the future.
