Saw Cheeni Kum FDFS.An extremely likeable romantic comedy full of witty
comments and subtle humour.Cheeni Kum is a delight to watch.
Story:
Amitabh
Bachchan plays Buddhadeb Gupta(64 years) an egotistical, arrogant and
pompous owner-cum-chef of Spice6-Londons best Indian restaurant whose
only passion in life is cooking. He lives with his mum and confides in
his 9 year old neighbour Sexy.Tabu plays Nina Verma(34 years) who comes
to London to her friends place.meets Amitabh in his restaurant and
after a weird introduction.they end up being friends slowly. Both want
to get married.problem is.Paresh Rawal who plays Omprakash
Verma(Ninas dad).hes 6 years younger than Buddhadeb.
Performances:
Kudos
to the casting director for having cast everyone so perfectly.Buddhadeb
could not have been done more justice by anyone else but Amitabh. He is
so much Buddhadeb that you forget hes Amitabh after a few moments. His
expressions, his style, his nature.amazing.Tabu looks pretty and does
a very good job.being pitted against an Amitabh is no joke.but she
does really well.Swini Khara as Sexy does an excellent job.Watch for
all her dialogues.too good.Paresh Rawal is alright in an small
role.couldve had more of him.Zohra Sehgal is good in a small role.
Good scenes:
1)First meeting between Amitabh Bachchan-Tabu
2)All scenes between Amitabh Bachchan and Swini Khara
3)First meeting between Amitabh Bachchan-Paresh Rawal
Flaws:
1)Too less of Paresh Rawal.seriously couldve had more of him on screen.
2)Swini Khara has no other friends except Amitabh.a little hard to believe.
My Verdict:
Overall
Cheeni Kum is a sugarfree romance as the tagline perfectly says.If you
love witty comments and subtle humour Cheeni Kum is sure a
recommendation.
