There are two types of moviegoers
1) Who watch only those kind of movies which makes sense in story lines, screenplays, logic etc etc perfection in all aspects.
2) Who watch those kind movies which has comedy, action, drama, romance & masala entertainment.
This Rohit shetty’s new venture belongs to the second category. High in comedy and drama with few pinches of romance & action in Rohit Shetty’s Eshtyle making it a complete package of entertainment for all the genre.
Rohit Shetty who has already joined 100-crore club with his previous Golmaal series, All the best plus bol bachchan raises his scale for his Eid offering.
His simple funda of making movie is to Entertain the audience with mass appealing humor, foot-tapping music, hero - larger than life, high drama and pretty cool one liners. And of course, action by playing with the cars in Rohit Shetty’s Eshtyle. Chennai Express has all such ingredients to offer for a wholesome entertainment pack. It’s an entertainer that proves that the SRK - Rohit Shetty combo is truly magical. In fact, it’s one of the best combos to hit the masala film space.
SRK - named as Rahul (again, but after a long time) who is carrying a bag on his shoulder since DDLJ, shown as a 40-year old Punjabi man is on its way to immerse grandfather’s ashes down to the south and in route he meets daughter of Don from south Indian village Meena ( Deepika ) and the journey of Chennai Express begins.
Chennai Express is Rohit Shetty’s version of DDLJ with South Indian Amrish puri (Sathyaraj) who has hardly 10 lines to say in the end but conveys so much through his eyes in his entire role. The first half of the movie is high on comedy and drama with a foot-tapping song ’1234...Get on the dance floor’. Its all about the fun in first half and SRK works magnificently well with his comedy and drama (which he is always good at).
The second half takes off with the love story and 3 songs with two of them back to back. UN-necessary stretching the movie. This could have been avoided. Much more drama. Really too much compared to the first half. And then there is action in the second half, especially in the climax which would remind you of Ajay Devgn in Himmatwala fighting with 100 people at a time(if you managed to saw that movie). The of-course part of one man fighting with 50 people and winning the hearts of Gaonwallas is also present in the movie. Just to make sure we all have a happy ending.
On the whole, CHENNAI EXPRESS has the trademark Rohit Shetty stamp all over with his Eshtyle. All you lovers of masala movies, board this Express!
