I have been to Chennai last week and found It was par behind my expectations before visiting. I will try to sum up my 3 day tour . Appreciable aspect was the city planning. It was not complex and very much accessible to tourists as well . Public transport is so cheap but ill maintained and flabbergasted to see over crowded city buses with ladies foot boarding! There are very much less local bus services and limited to some specific areas . Chennai being an automobile industry hub and budding IT hub is a very safe place to live and people are generous and hospitable. But highly expensive place in terms of boarding and lodging .
Chennai is blessed with long stretch of beautiful number of beaches providing relief to buzzing city in scorching heat . I visited couple of beaches, Elliot’s beach and beach in Mahabalipuram. Both these beaches were well maintained, especially I fell in love with Mahabalipuram beach such a beautiful beach landscaped with number trees and rocks and shore temple is marvelous piece of art setting in sea as a backdrop.
There is not much scope for sightseeing in chennai but there are numerous places to explore around chennai with in 100km radius . Puducherry is one, artistic french constructions, beautiful beaches and Indo - French diversified culture takes us to France! But overall climate is bit harsh . I am a hyderabadi loves eating spicy food, found food over there is not spicy and they enjoy taking sambar in every meal . I found a bit odd but sambar is quite tasty .
