Last month while I was going to the Ford showroom to test drive the Fiesta, I was passing through a GM Dealer and was attracted by the looks of Aveo displayed outside, luring the passers by.
As I had high opinions on GM suspension and vehicles , I went inside to give it a try.
Let me start with looks and yes the Aveo is a good looker, personally I liked the looks of this car better than Honda City.
I had a doubt on the steering , as I observed that in Corsa the steering is very heavy and touches your lap if one is somewhat tall.
I am glad that GM has rectified this problem as I found that the steering is smooth enough and also tiltable.
The interiors are gorgeous especially the high end model gives a great look.
I drove both 1.4 and 1.6 and didn’t find remarkable difference between them in city driving.
The positive points
Excellent handling – I liked the drivability of this vehicle , I mean you can handle the vehicle as if you are driving a small car.
Interiors are very good and give you a good feeling
Looks are elegant
Now the negatives
Bumpy ride: I am more than surprised that the much talked about GM suspension gives us such a bumpy ride. I took three test drives and observed the same thing. As many Gurus in this field advice to sit in the back seat, I sat in the back seat and felt that the comfort is not up to the mark ( Sit in the Fiesta to realize this)
The horn is only a small circle placed in the center of the vehicle , like the ones in very old cars. Boss, in India horn is very important. I had to search for it many times during the drive. May be one may get used to this after some time.
Highly priced compared to Fiesta .You get 1.6 Fiesta (ZXI) for the price of 1.4 Aveo, if you are ready to compromise a little on the interiors, but you get more space in Fiesta both inside and in the boot.
Final Impressions : Fiesta is a clear winner in comfort , space and value as compared to Aveo. You get a lot more than expected plus a very comfortable car.
I guess the mileage is same for both the cars
