Its been a year and 9 months since I have brought this car. I really considered and reconsidered as to whether I should review this car this late since I had it. But I decided to go ahead as the car brings a smile to my face evrytime I take it out for a ride.
On setting the prioroty to buy a C- segment I car I set out to all the major brands out there, Honda, ford, hyundai and GM. My first stop was at the honda showroom and for some reason they were reluctant to get me a test drive vehicle of the city. Finally got one on the 2nd visit and liked it enough to place it on the call back list
Then off I went to hyundai were the service was horrible and I had to apply tremendous will powe to walk out of there. I liked the verna but was not happy of either the price or its interiors.
My experience at ford was good but I found the fiesta lacked interior space and the interiors were draband boring except in the higher end version. I dont ever go for the top end version of any vehicle I buy coz the top end price of a particular segment is always same or within hands reach of the base model of the next segment and this could be a never ending cycle so I always go for the middle model. Still the driving comfort of the fiesta made me not to reject it plus with its mileage, you know its a good buy. I didnt consider the fusion though I know its a practical choice and a good vehicle, I just couldnt live with that ’ is it a car? is it an suv? ’ conception.
GM was something I didnt consider at all bu thought of just lookin at the aveo anyway. I normally dont take interest in anything unless I am going to buy it, so I didnt know anything about the aveo. Let me tell you of that day I entered chevrolet family...... Since my other car was out of station and my bike at service I had to travel by an auto. I was sneezing left and right with some allergy and managed to get stains and get my shirt pocket torn while I was getting out of the auto, but I didnt notice it at the time but later when I did, I found myself hideous with haywire hair from the journey, running nose and speaking with a closed nose voice and the stains made me immenslely unpresentable yet the staff made me feel at home even getting me some medicinal tea to make me at ease!! The staff at the showroom was the most efficient and cheerful of the whole lot. They didnt have a test drive car but told me to jot down my address as they would notify my as soonas the car came back. Later that evening I got a pleaseant surprise as the called me sayng the car has left to my place 4 for the test drive!! They handed over the car to me and said I can drive on any road I please for however long I wish as these are familiar roads and I can know the difference in suspension and other stuff immediately. I took it for a long driv and loved the way the car performed.
the clutch of this car is the softest there is and the steering induces confidence. The gear lever is a bit more rougher than the others in the segment buts its easy none the les and gets better after regular use . The gear ratios are perfect for cuty drive with one able to ride as low as 25 to 30 kmlhr on the 5th gear!! The cabin is silent and at idle you have no chance to know whether its switced on!! after a 2 hr long test drive I gave them the cheque for the car as soon as I reached home, Of all the cars I tested this was wat gave me utmost satisfaction with the honda city the only one coming close. I asked the staff later as I was in the showroom to get the delivery of the car, that if they really thought I was a potential customer the way I appeared the first time I came around?they just smiled and said " for us every person walking in that door is a guest and we dont judge anyone in matter of appearance " That just floored me. Now getting to the car...
Now after almost 2 years of usage and umpteen interstate drives I never had a moment of worry. The service cost and sparepart charges of the aveo is the lowest in the segment and added with a 12 - 14km/litre mileage in the city and 18 - 20 km/litre inthe highwaay as wellas free pick up and drop for car servicing , this car was also the most economical choice I made.
The brakes even without ABS is spot on. The AC cooling is great and the rear seat comfort of the passenger with amphitheatre style seating ( though this was to accomadate the tapering roof ) is amazing. Leg room is satisfactory and its light interiors make it feels roomy and pleasant. You always feel you are driving a bigger car when in th aveo.The trunk space is very spacious.
Just fill her up and drive hassle and worry free. Trust me on this, you never go wrong with an aveo. Its not without reason GM is the Highest selling vehicles in the world.
