Bought the car back in early 2006, was stunned after seeing it as there wasnt anyother cars that could come closer to it in looks or interiors in the segment. So bought it without looking back and still believe it was the right decision. Its been 4 years since I bought this car and the best thing is, never had 1 trouble till now.
Mine is a 1.4L Aveo LS with everything on stock condition with 70% city riding and completed 23, 000 kms till now.
Its quite powerful for a 1.4L engine especially after 2000rpm but you will hate to drive it with the A/C on, as it seems to load the engine too much. It has many simple yet useful features like cup holders, bag hangers and a well finished interior. The printed antenna is a cream on top, coz its a feature you find in some premium cars and you can say goodbye to that ugly wobbly antenna on the roof. The suspension does its job well absorbing huge potholes found only in indian roads.
On the downside I would like to mention the massive body roll in corners which takes away all the driving fun. The gear shifter is crappy too but you will easily get used to it. The suspension makes a creaky sound when riding over humps, which can be rectified by servicing the bearing during regular service. Fuel efficiency is nothing to praise about, but is nothing to complain as its equal to its competitors in real life, 10kmpl in city and 14 highway which varies according to driving styles.
I’ve never felt the car getting older even after driving it for 4 years, neither has any complaints -What more do I want from a car.
If you are looking for a good family car with comfort for all your passengers, look no further. But if you use the car for your own use and you drive it, prefer the fiesta over this(my sister has a fiesta and its more fun to drive than this, but service and parts are on the higher side. It also had a gearbox problem after 15k kms).
