I bought the Chevrolet Aveo 1.4LT (velvet red) last week. I wanted a petrol sedan at around 7 lacs (on road). I had done extensive research before zeroing in on the Aveo. Other cars in my shortlist were Fiat Linea (Dynamic), Hyundai Verna Transform, Ford Fiesta (Limited Edition) and SX4 (Vxi). I finally chose the Aveo LT since at this price it offers the best deal.
I paid 6.9 lacs (on road). The dealer gave sun film, footmats and mud flaps for free. At 6.9 lacs on road, no car in my shortlist offered the following combination: Airbag+CD/MP3 player with 6 speakers+Leather interiors with wood paneling+Key less entry+Electric door mirrors+Alloy wheels+Tilt steering+Height adjustable drivers seat. Only the Aveo LT gave all this and more.
I have driven about 200 km so far. The car is very smooth and the ride is comfortable. The sound insulation inside the cabin is superb. Handling is good and fit and finish is also superior to most in the same category. Only flip-side is fuel economy. I am getting about 8 kmpl with AC in the city. I am told that this will increase to 9/10 after first service but I doubt it.
But here I must say that my friends who own SX4 or Ford Fiesta are also getting around 8 kmpl. Only Linea gives around 10/11 kmpl.
