Happy SAILing

Due to my extremely hactic schedule I couldn’t write any review for a long time but I would like to tell you all about this wonderful car called Chevrolet Sail Hatchback( formerely known as Sail UVA)

I was planning to upgrade from my alto LX for a few months and while taking a stroll with my wife we saw this beautiful car. My wife noticed it and we couldn’t resist second look and I saw the logo of Chevrolet Sail UVA( now hatchback). We liked the car and I started gathering more and more information about it.

I compared this car with almost all cars under the sun. After a lot of research I took some feedback from a few Chivy users( Including harry paji and Khaled bhai) and got positive feedback from everyone. Once I was decided, I called for a test drive and it turn out to be a difficult thing as the petrol model was not available. We saw diesel hatchback and drove petrol sedan for the feel. Finally booked with Singh motors on S. B. Road, Pune and I am very happy with the deal which I was offered. 6.11 L on road with 14k extra( total 6.25L) and they gave me JBL Oval rear speakers, Roof Rail, Alloy wheels, seat cover, Floor mat, mud flap, Mobile charger, perfume and Ganpati idol.

Chrome finished Headlamps and Fog Lamps look good. Its Jewel-Effect’ Tail Lamps are good looking and attractive. Chrome Highlighted Interior are stylish and Leather wrapped Steering wheel add to luxury. Except chrome finished fog lamps, outer view of car is same as the outgoing model UVA but black & beige interiors with much better plastic make it look premium.

Finally we got the delivery on 30th Oct 2014 and I am sailing happily.

Look, Style & Build quality:

This looks a real big hatchback as compared to its competition. This looks like a mini SUV. Nice styling and shape make it look premium and it stands out in traffic. Interiors are black & beige, very specious, nice music system with driver air bag and all power windows. Overall great in terms of exteriors and interiors however looks best with roof rail and rear spoiler and alloy wheels. Build quality too is good.

Handling & Comfort:

Its extremely comfortable and specious. lots of legroom for both rows and headroom. Double din music system with up to 5 mobile pairings. AC is powerful with chrome finish. Smooth Power steering, All power windows, driver airbag, ABS, EBD & nice seats and electronically adjustable ORVM. with rear seat fully folded, a person with medium height can even sleep inside. Boot space and under sear seat storage is more than sufficient. Overall comfortable.

Pickup:

Pick up is good however lacks power to overtake on 3rd gear. Second gear too can be a little more powerful but does its job pretty well. Clutch length can be shortened and few people say that it can be done at service station.

Power & Mileage:

Its has 1.2 L SMARTECH Petrol Engine with 83.6 PS of power and 108.5 Nm of torque giving a milage of 18.2 KMPL(ARAI certified).

I am yet to check it as I drove just 350 kms and it gave approx 10-12 roughly. Showroom Person called Mr. Sunil was very helpful during entire deal and he assured that once its through with second service you can expect optimum milage( 16 - 17 in city, 18-20 on highways)

Safety and Best Features:

Safety features such as Safe Cage structure, Airbag, ABS, EBD make it a really safe car. side impact beams add extra safety along with crash senor. Looks, Smooth steering and lot of space. Rest all are parity features offered by almost all players.

Needs to improve:

Multi functional Steering required. Rear AC vents can be added and rear design can be more attractive as this ends rather abruptly. I20 asta has best rear design in this segment.

Overall Experience & Verdict:

I highly recommend this car as for the same features and comforts you will have to shell out minimum 6.75 to 7L. A head turner for sure. My white beauty with roof rails and alloy wheels look stunning. 3 year warranty is something which adds another reason to consider.

Its a true value for money car with a lots fo style. Go for it.

I will update the review time to time and share my experience with servicing, milage etc.
