Honest Review. Based on 2000KM Drive Experience.

Starting From Looks:

-

Front Looks excellent. Handsome look I should say. Clean lines, matured face, nice proportion. Very Manly looks. On Dark colors it looks Butch rather than cute or funky. Side profile well proportioned. Nice slung on the rear side. Rear profile is simple and nice. From Rear end its well squatted position gives quite wide looking. Head Lamp Design is nice but Brake light design needs more design, may be horizontal stacking would look better and sporty rather than vertical stack. This hatch s quite large. It is just under 4 meter that means the Hatch is almost close to some Compact Sedans which are less than 4m.

Lets come inside:

-

Space and Largeeeee space is noticeable inside of SAIL UVA. Because of coffee and beige color dual-tone interior the cabin looks airy and gives you pleasant feeling. Once you are settled with the proper seating position you will be very happy for the long journey ahead. Dashboard design is nice, nice flowing lines are there centered into the middle. The total style is good but little conservative.Glove Box is useful. Front Door pads are large. Small Storage space cum design above the glove box. One Small Pocket available right side of the steering wheel. Very very useful pocket. Almost 250 ltrs boot has generous space. There is space under the rear seat which is useful to keep small carry bags. Boot space has the light for Dark(k)nights:-D

Features and Switches:

-

Basic needful features are present in SAIL UVA. All Four Power windows, Electrically adjustable Side Rear view Mirrors. Tiltable Steering, Rear Defogger, Rear Wiper, Music system, Bluetooth enabled, Fog Lamps.

Power window buttons are located in front of Gear Lever. Rear switches are in proper conventional space. I donot have any issues personally with the Front switches location. Horn Pad switch is located with two small switch(Please google the image) which rather tough to use. I did not like it at all. Very silly decision. Large horn pad is required.

Seats and Comfort:

-

For me this area was the top most priority along with the Engine performance. SAIL UVA has enough potential to make me happy in this area. Seats are good, supportive, little firm, Reclines position, Huge Legroom, Good Head Room, Powerful AC, adequate Neck/head restrain support, Vibration less cabin - all are present in this Car. Perfect Family car for Long And Short Journeys. 5 adults are happily fitted compared to other cars in this segment.

Engine, Shift, Ride, Handling, NVH, Brakes:

-

The Engine is fastThe Petrol Motor in Sail UVA is 1.2 ltr 85BHP and 113NM torque machine. The engine is well tuned, decent mileage, practical and punchy above 2000RPM. Many people says low end torque is low. While  feel because of the Long Clutch throw it becomes tough to hold the clutch in particular position for long time. Because of this in congested traffic you need to adjust your left foot properly. Low end is fine for me. Pulls well from 10kmph in 2nd gear, and 25kmph in 3rd gear.

Gear box is close gated and easy to reach, at least for me(5.11 inches). 1, 2, 3, 4 shifts are slick, Fifth and Reverse shifting needs little attention sometimes.

Ride quality is perfectly balanced with 174mm ground clearance. in my 2000KM travel, it never scratched the below.Very planted nature at high speed. Body Roll is very well controlled. You need to push hard for significant body roll else very planted and sure footed - this gives confidence while cornering.

Handling - the steering is ultra light. very easy to drive in city. But steering feedback at high speed is not at its best. Only this area which makes me think before hitting more than 120km/h. But on straight stretch the car is very balanced and fun to drive, This car is dynamically capable of touching 150 easily.

Wheels - R14, 175mm Tyre. They grip the road well and gives plush ride quality if filled with 32 psi. Though I fill the tyre with 34psi(recommended by Chevy) 32 psi gives comfortable ride.

Noise, Vibration, Harshness is well controlled. There is almost nil vibration inside the cabin. No Harshness felt. Engines noise filters inside but not disturbing. Above 2500 RPM mild music will suppress the engine noise.

Brakes are good I felt. My car does not have ABS as I bought SAIL UVA PS model. But then also it has good grip.

Tyres have good grip on the road.

MILEAGE: 13.5-16 at this moment(city - Highway). Now 4500 Km crossed.

Though SAIL UVA is short on some utility list(Parking sensor, steering mounted control, Auto Climate Control) it is a all rounder package. If you are a sensible driver you will get good mileage too from this BIG HATCH.:-)
