Atlast a better option in small car segment.......

It’s been around 8 months driving this piece of work by Chevrolet and it’s 6000+ km clocked on the Odometer.

So, I thought what better time to write a review. When I started off my "mission" of buying a new car, my first choice was Santro Xing, and I am a big fan of hyundai cars. So, I consulted few of my friends and relatives who have santro. The car is good, no doubt, but as far as the mileage and maintainence goes, hyundai is still not a champion.

One fine day, I came across this piece of beauty SPARK. I was not sure about the performance of the car, so I stepped into a GM showroom. The car looked nice, and we test drove it. Now, I had to decide b/w Santro and Spark. So, I calculated and found that Santro was around 35K costlier than Spark, at that time Jan’09 (dnt knw the prices as of now).

Also, Spark had a whole new and fresh look, so I made up my mind to go for it finally. I got my Spark delievered in the last week of January. My advice to all of those who want to buy a new car would be: "dont jump into anything, give some time, do a proper research. always make a deal with the dealer, before giving them a single penny"

What I was not happy with, was the service provided by the dealer. Triump Motors, New Delhi has the worst service in NCR. I wish I could have bought it from my home town. After making the initial payment of 25k, they were not at all treating me a as a customer. I had to go there 3 times. I asked them for a money refund, they said: they have already done the insurance of the car, so they cant return that 8K and we have to deal with reliance (insurance provider) for that. What a crap? Somehow, I managed to handle those illeterate sales people from GM.

Coming back to SPARK, the car is a treat for al those who mostly have to drive on highways, as it gives you a very safe drive, seriously. The AC is good, you dont feel like switching off your AC, while overtaking another vehicle (as told to me by one of my friends who is a 2 months old Alto owner). Leg sapce is nice. Even a 6ft tall man can easily be accomodated. Now comes the biggest concern. Mileage: On highways with AC switched on all the time: it gives me 15-16/Ltr.

In city with AC: around 13.5/Ltr. The maximum spped is 180KM on the sppedometer(if I am not wrong :-)), and trust me frnds, I have touched 130 KM, and it did not feel even .0001 shaky at all, so hats off to GM engineering work. My second service is due in January, so I am hoping for more mileage to come out.I would say its a good deal. The colors are so frehs, that you feel like driving it more and more. Interiors are just OK, GM seriously needs to work on the interiors, as I find them very dull. The accelerator, brakes and clutch are at par ease to use. All in All, Spark is a very good option, and you will love it.
