Over the weekend, I realized that the reflection problem is more serious than I thought. Autos in Chennai are yellow in color, and I almost had an accident with an auto due to this reflection problem. I believe the beige reflection and the color of the auto sort of blended too well for me to see, thus resulting in near collision.
Anyways, I finally found a solution, took an old black bean bag at home, stripped a piece out of it and covered the dashboard. Given the smart suggestions from GM to fix this issue, I only hope they dont steal my ideas ;)--
Update:In continuation to my earlier concern to the beige interiors reflection onto my Chevy Spark LT Windshield; I contacted GM, and this was the absurd response I got. GM is asking me to paint my new Chevy Spark LT dashboard in Black color to avoid reflection. Can you believe this?
" Dear Mr. Karthik Ramakrishnan,
We are in receipt of your query concerning your Chevrolet Spark.
In response to your query regarding dashboard reflection on the front windshield, as stated by you, we would like to inform that reflection might be happening due to beige colour portion on the dashboard, which is a part of standard design of Spark dashboard. However, if you find this reflection discomforting, we can suggest you to avail the facility of painting of dashboard portion with black mat finishing. This will certainly minimize the degree of reflection but at the same time it might affect the aesthetics of the dashboard.
We thank you for writing into us and providing us an opportunity to serve you better, assuring you the best of our services at all times."
Hey Guys,
Over the weekend I picked up a Chevy Spark LT for my wife from Sundaram Motors in Chennai. Though the car is good in all aspects, I did notice a big problem with the design. The beige dashboard (stretching from the passenger side to the drivers side) reflects big time on to the windshield, especially when you are driving during day time. It feels like there is a ghost image, or distorted vision of the road with so much of the light beige dashboard being reflected on to the inner windshield?
I am now trying to get hold of some tailor of sorts to stitch some material for the top dashboard that does not reflect the image on to the windshield. Has anyone else noticed this design flaw? This is bugging me big time and I am concerned for my wifes safety as clear visibility is reduced big time.
