I am writing this note in desparation!
I should say that chevrolets servicing is the worst in in India. I hate to generalize but I have been sent back disappointed from multiple service centers in Bangalore. Ill not be alarmed even if this post also dont awaken Chevrolet India. Just have a look at my struggle to get my car fixed:-
Problem:- Tak tak noise originating from front left tyre( read suspension).
Start date:- February 2011.
- Service center: Sundaram Chevrolet, Whitefield, Bangalore.
Date: March 2011.
Diagnosis:- Drive shaft boot needs replacement.
Action taked:- Service manager made me chase him for atleast 2 months before redirecting me to their main service center: Sundaram Chevrolet, KG Road, Bangalore.
- Service center: Sundaram Chevrolet, KG Road, Bangalore.
Date: May 2011.
Diagnosis: Drive shaft boot needs replacement.
Action taken:- Replaced drive shaft boot.
Charges:- Car under 3yr warranty. No money taken.
- Service center: Trident Chevrolet, Kalyan Nagar
Date: April 2012.
Diagnosis: Drive shaft boot needs replacement.
Action taken:- Part not available at the service center, needs to be ordered.
They promised me that they will call me back when they receive the part.
They tightened some screws and told me that it is fixed.
Charges:- Car still under 3yr warranty.
# Third party service center( Bosch) replaced 4 parts for Rs.10, 000 and problem got fixed for a year.
# Unfortunately, problem occurred again in April 2014.
- Service center: Trident Chevrolet, Kalyan Nagar
Date: May 2014.
Diagnosis: Shocker, drive shaft+ 2 other parts need replacement.
Action taken:- 4 parts replaced. But in doing so, while my car was with them, service guys accidently put a huge DENT on the bonut of my car. They called me and told me that they will fix it and then deliver. They delivered after delaying the delivery by 1 week. Service Manager( Pradeep) showed m3e a clause behind the job card that said, "Car under servicing is at the risk of the owner.".So, he said he is doing a favour to me by fixing the dent which he has caused. No words to explain my feelings here.
After they delivered with 4 parts replaced and dent repaired( not replaced), problem reoccurred in 10mins post delivery.
Rediagnosis: 5th part: drive shaft boot needs replacement( note that this is the part replaced in step#1). I am not sure why they replaced 4 parts above.
Action taken: Waited for the part to be ordered( 2 weeks+ multiple follow ups).
Car again given for 5th part replacement on June 9, 2014. Same day delivery promised. Later postponed to a day later.
Suddenly, service center found that 5th part replacement cannot fix the problem.
Rediagnosis: 6th part needs replacement. COMMITTED to fix the car after replacing 6th part.
Action taken: I went to take my car back without getting it fixed. But to my surprise, the 6th part( which was healthy just before the previous diagnosis in the long chain) was reported to be so badly damaged that it cannot be fitted back into the car. So, car cannot be delivered to me without me buying the 6th part. Shocking!
I CAN USE 1000S OF ADJECTIVES TO EXPLAIN THEIR BEHAVIOUR AND THE KIND OF SERVICE THEY PROVIDE. BUT WHATS THE USE?
BEST IS TO SELL CHEVROLET AND BUY MARUTI( EVEN 800 WOULD BE BETTER THAN THIS AND BETTER SERVICED THAN THIS).
