I am a proud owner of a Chevy Spark. I’m driving it for last14months. It’s a very cleverly designed car.
The 1lit 4 cylinder engine can take panga with any bigger car. handling is more than excellent. acceleration is good. overall its a driver’s car. There is unrecognizable vibration in the car. even few times I tried to start the engine when the engine was already on. AC is as expected. but AC with 4 passengers, the car starts to give up. Whatever I can say is Spark is the king of its segment.
I’ve driven more then 7500 KM in these months and Ienjoyed each n every ride. But like moon there is a dark side of every good thing n Spark is no exception. First of all if Chevy want to increase the sale of their small car they should have to spread there service station network nationwide. At my location people use to buy only Maruti just because of this reason. Though those car need to visit service stations much frequently. My car’sservice station is more then 60 km away form my house so its a huge tusk to bring the car to service station. And I know people who stay 300 km away form the service station. I think chevy dont want villagers like me to be a chevy owner. But the service station is very good they are very careful abt every customer.
The second problem of my car is itsheadlights. when I push the lights to upper they automatically start to move downwards very fast. After few seconds it position itself like dipper then If I push the lights to dipper the lights used to move automatically upwards. i son forced to drive the car always on dipper at night time. the service persons of myservice center tried thrice to resolve the problem. even they changed a total headlight but theproblem is still there. I dont think its a design problem. I think the service persons are unable to detect the problem.
Another problem of this car is itsrear leg room is just enough for a 6 feet person. U can’t move a bit if ur 6 feet or above. Theboot space is also small. You can put only two standard size luggage in it. So its better to go for a rear split seat.
Plastic quality is good but there is some funny cost cutting by chevy. it’ll be better if there is a three spoke steering wheel in staid of two. and there should be a golden chevy logo on the wheel in staid of black.
The reverse gear is also have a minor problem, 2/10 times its creates a pinion noise in staid of moving. The services person told me, the reverse gear is operates through a wire which creates the problem. But as its a compact car, so space problem is obvious. No one gonna give you a SUV at this price range. Tough service stations are not well spread but u need only once in a 6 months to be there. Spark dont runs, it glides.
